A few days ago I suggested that Adria say her own prayer for her lunch without any help. She was very excited to do so and went right ahead. When she finished I ran and wrote it down.
So this is her first unassisted prayer:
Hebenly Fada,
Bless for dis food.
Bless we can be safe.
Bless Daddy can be safe on da boat all day.
In name Jesus Christ, A-men.
Then she triumphantly looked up to me for approval.

Adria's First Talk
On Easter Sunday Adria gave her first talk. I was sad that Jeff wasn't around. It is his job to write the kid's talks. Again, we managed.
She was excited and very sweet.
This was her talk:
On Easter Sunday we remember the things Jesus did for us.
Jesus is my brother. Jesus loves me.
He lived on Earth just like us.
He set an example for us.
He was baptized like we need to be.
He healed the sick.
He taught the people.
He blessed the children.
He testified of Heavenly Father.
Jesus chose to suffer and die for me.
Jesus did everything he needed to do so I can live with my family in Heaven with Him and Heavenly Father someday. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Easter Weekend
We had a great weekend celebrating Easter. It isn't the easiest thing pulling off Holidays without a second parent around, but we managed.
This is the ward egg hunt. Andrew never stopped running.
Our Beautiful Eggs. There is dye, tattoos, stickers, paint and glitter.
We went to Genella's house to color eggs together. I wasn't watching Adria very closely and these are the shoes she put on to go. A ballet type slipper and Andrew's flip flop. Oooops.
Then Easter Sunday. We had a little egg hunt in Grandma's front yard then brunch. It was a lot of fun to be together. Although, we did miss Daddy a lot.

Spring Break
Okay. So this is a lot bit late. Not sure what my problem is. I guess I just go in cycles of wanting to post and hating to post. But I'm back after some friendly nudging from friends. :o)
We watched "Bedtime Stories" before bed.
Gotta love the wildlife. We also saw a turkey, humming bird, and sea lions.
What a fun week!!
We went to the Redwoods for Spring Break this year. My sister Genella and her 3 kids, my mom and me and my 3 kids all headed up North for four days. That is NINE of us. The ages of the kids are 9,8,7,6,3 & 3. Pretty crazy. We took my van and my mom's RV. I was the lucky one who got to travel in the van with both the 3 year olds. They were little angels. They watched Blues Clues ABCs and slept. I listened to talk radio podcasts. The five hours actually went by pretty quickly.
We watched "Bedtime Stories" before bed.The week was lots of fun. It only rained on us a little. We saw some beautiful scenery, drove through a tree (which was Maleah's sole goal in going to the Redwoods), went to the beach, played at the park, made smores and shopped.

Blog Entry By Danae
One day at VAPA I made a book. VAPA is Visual And Performing Arts class. The book was called VAPA. It had a lot of details about VAPA. My favorite page of the book is the last page. It says, "I love VAPA." I read it to the VAPA teacher and she told me to read it to a couple more teachers, and I did.
The thing that I like best about VAPA is painting. The day that I made the book I painted flowers and a vase. Last time I went to VAPA I made a table with a couple apples and I made a pattern on the wall and on the table. The very first time I went to VAPA I made an owl. I don't have them at home to take a picture of for you because I get to take them home on open house night.
I don't always get to paint. Sometimes I just have to draw the pictures I'm making. Like when I made the flowers I only got to draw them. I didn't get to paint them yet. Next time I go to VAPA I get to paint them. After I am done with my work there is stuff that I get to do. Like there is play dough, legos (I never go to legos), a monster game, and there are scraps that you can make stuff out of. In VAPA you're allowed to stay in for recess if you want to do any of that. There are also magnetic blocks to play with.
Here is a picture that is just like the one I made of the flowers. I get to paint it next week.

Pinewood Derby
I was surprised to find out that our pack was doing a pinewood derby this year because we had already done a Raingutter Regatta and we are going to do the Space Derby. I didn't know that troops did all three in one year. Bleck.
Anyway. Andrew did wonderfully. He chose to design his car like a Wii remote and luckily we are living close to family this year and Uncle Brian has the necessary tools to realize that plan. Andrew painted and decorated the car and it turned out Great!! I'm secretly hoping to use it again next year with our pack in Germany. I know you're not supposed to use the same car two years in a row, but if we are in another country it's okay, right? It would just mean that we don't have to make another car.
Andrew got 4th place and won a LOT of races. He had so much fun running around with the kids, eating too many desserts and racing the cars. I guess that is why the derby is for the boys not the moms. :o)

My kitchen scale said it weighed 4.25 oz and the one at the race said 5.0. Weird.

Little Adria
I just wanted to write this down, so I don't forget it some day.
A few days ago we were at a school gym and Adria said, "Mom, I need a dwink from the water mountain."
I said, "What, honey?"
"A dwink from the water mountain."
"The water what? What did you say?"
"The water MOUN-TAIN. MOUNTAIN, mom! I need a dwink from the WATER MOUNTAIN!"
"Oh, sorry. That's what I thought you said."
A few days ago we were at a school gym and Adria said, "Mom, I need a dwink from the water mountain."

A few days ago Adria was having a piece of candy just after lunch. She looked really tired so I asked her if she was ready for a nap. She readily agreed, but was torn between her candy and the nap. So I offered to save her candy for after her nap. She handed it right over to me and went to bed. A few hours later I had to wake her up to go somewhere. So I went into her room and she rolled over, looked at me and said, "Can I have my cangee now?" That girl never forgets.

Blue and Gold Banquet 2009
Tonight was Andrew's Blue and Gold Banquet for cub scouts. This is the first one he has actually been able to attend. Last year he came down with Strep the night before. So he was excited to be able to decorate a cake with Grandpa and go get his Bear award. He just finished the requirements for his bear award and he also got two arrow points.
Andrew and Grandpa had fun making cupcakes into a basket of apples. The theme was USA ABCs. Meaning, all the states in the union. So each kid got to pick a state to represent. Andrew chose Washington and he made a basket of Washington Apples.
The boys were also asked to do the centerpiece for your table with their state as the theme. I asked Andrew what he thought represented Washington and he said, "Lots of trees." So, we made the state flag by using a green table cloth and printing up the seal on the computer. Then we made a bunch of trees to go around it.
First thing were the awards. Andrew got his Bear patch and I got a pin.
Then we ate hot dogs and chips for dinner, what's more American than that? After dinner they awarded certificates for the cake decorating. Andrew got "Most Imaginative." And the cupcakes disappeared. They were the first cake gone. I was happy not to bring home red frosting. I even went to the kitchen and washed the platter.
Congratulations Andrew!! I'm so proud of you and how hard you work on Scouts. Good Job!!

Happy Valentine's Day
Just want to wish everyone a happy Valentine's Day, especially to my Valentine.
Jeff and I have never really made that big of a deal out of Valentine's Day. We always make a date out of it and usually buy something that we have wanted together. One year we bought a set of pots and pans. I have a vague memory of being told that if I ever tell anyone at a party that he got me pots and pans for Valentine's I'd be in trouble. But it wasn't like that. We had wanted/needed a set, we hadn't been married for long and it was a good excuse to go spend a chunk of money on ourselves. This year that doesn't work so well.
Jeff sent me a beautiful pair of real diamond earrings. I have always wanted a real pair, but it has never been high on the priority list. But now I'm wearing a very pretty set of pretty diamonds. Yay! He also always gets me roses for Valentine's, one rose for each Valentine we have celebrated. This year I actually get a full dozen. I'm looking forward to the years when I'll get more than two dozen.
Jeff bought all the kids a Webkinz. They love the online Webkinz world. Danae got two for Christmas and suddenly Andrew was interested in stuffed animals. So everyone got one that daddy picked out especially for them. (I had to email Jeff a link and an explanation of what the big deal was.) Jeff also always buys our girls flowers. This year 'he' bought them a dozen tulips. They are very sweet just like my girls.
Jeff, I love you. I'm grateful to be the focus of your love and devotion. You fill my life with joy and more love than I ever thought possible. Thanks for being such an amazing man.
